What the New Age Gets Wrong About God | From Occult to Orthodoxy Series (Part 2) | Ep. 115
In Part 2 of this series, we explore one of the most important theological questions of all time: Who is God?
Many people in the New Age believe God is the Universe, an impersonal energy, a higher frequency, or a divine force within themselves. It sounds peaceful. Empowering. Inclusive. But is that how God reveals Himself in Scripture?
After years immersed in New Age spirituality and the occult, I slowly adopted the belief that God was not a Personal Triune God—but a force I could access. Without realizing it, I had replaced the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit with something abstract and impersonal. And that shift changed everything.
In this episode, we contrast common New Age teachings with Orthodox Christian theology:
God is not an impersonal “Source,” but Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three divine Persons in perfect love.
God is the Creator, not the creation itself.
We are not divine by nature. We are created in God’s image and invited into theosis—union with Him by grace, not self-deification.
Not all spiritual experiences are from God. Scripture warns us that even Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light.
And no, all paths do not lead to God—because Christ Himself says He is the Way.
This conversation isn’t about attacking people who are spiritually searching. I was sincerely seeking healing and truth. But sincerity alone doesn’t guard us from deception.
When we misunderstand God, we chase experiences instead of Christ. We try to become our own saviors. We end up exhausted and empty.
The good news? The true God is not an energy to access, but a loving Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who can truly heal and transform the human soul.
