Orthodox Christian on Past Lives & Reincarnation | Occult to Orthodoxy Series (Part 11) | Ep. 125
So many people today believe in past lives. That they once were a witch, a demigod, or even just from a family of seamstresses.
Through rituals and divination, they try to learn more about who they once were, as a path to understanding who they are destined to become.
The main problem with that, is building an identity around who the demons say we are, rather than the God who created us, loves us, and knows what’s best for our souls.
The Allure of Past Lives
Reincarnation is one of the oldest spiritual ideas in human history. It appears across ancient civilizations—from India to Greece—and has been revived in modern times through New Age spirituality.
At its core, it teaches that:
The soul is reborn into new bodies after death
Your current life is just one of many
Your circumstances are shaped by karma from previous lives
Enlightenment comes through escaping the cycle
On the surface, it sounds comforting. It gives a sense of continuity, purpose, and even control.
But there’s a deeper issue beneath it.
My Experience: When Identity Becomes a Lie
During my years in the occult, I didn’t just entertain the idea of past lives—I fully identified with them.
Through tarot readings, rituals, third eye practices, and psychedelic experiences, I became convinced that:
I had been a witch persecuted in a past life
I had lived as a temple prostitute doing “sacred work”
I had soul ties and “twin flames” across lifetimes
These beliefs didn’t just sit in the background—they shaped how I lived.
They justified my choices.
They influenced my relationships.
They gave meaning to behaviors that were actually harming me.
At the time, it all felt deeply spiritual and true.
But looking back now, I can see something I couldn’t see then:
I was building my identity on information that didn’t come from God.
The Reality Behind “Past Life Memories”
Spiritual experiences can feel real… and still be deceptive.
In Orthodox Christianity, there’s a concept called spiritual delusion—a state where a person believes they are receiving divine revelation, but are actually being misled by demonic forces.
Demons are the world’s oldest historians.
They have existed since before human civilization.
They were present in the ancient temples of Babylon.
They know the details of 17th-century witch trials.
And they can use that knowledge to feed us false memories that feel real, because the spirit. providing them had actually been there.
The Hidden Dangers of Reincarnation
1. It Destroys Your True Identity
Reincarnation teaches that “you” are just a temporary version of something that keeps changing.
Your name, your body, your story—they’re all disposable.
But Christianity teaches the opposite:
You are a unique, unrepeatable person.
Created once. Known by God. Loved intentionally.
There is no “next version” of you.
There is only you.
2. It Replaces the Need for a Savior
Reincarnation says:
“You just need more time.”
More lives. More chances. More opportunities to get it right.
But if that’s true, then what was the point of Christ?
Why would God enter into suffering, die, and rise again… if we could save ourselves over time?
The truth is:
We don’t need more time.
We need redemption.
3. It Opens the Door to Spiritual Deception
When you accept a past-life identity, you stop asking:
“God, who did You create me to be?”
And you start living according to a demonic script for your life.
That’s exactly what happened to me.
I believed I was continuing finding my true purpose.
But I was actually being pulled away from the one God had written for my life.
4. It Removes Urgency From Your Soul
If you believe you have endless lives, there’s no urgency to seek truth.
No urgency to change.
No urgency to repent.
No urgency to come to God.
But Christianity is clear:
You have one life.
And what you do with it matters eternally.
What Actually Happens After Death?
If reincarnation isn’t real, then what does happen?
According to Orthodox Christianity:
1. The Particular Judgment
After death, the soul immediately encounters the truth of its life—fully, clearly, and honestly.
2. The Middle State
The soul experiences a foretaste of either peace or separation from God, while awaiting the final resurrection.
3. The General Resurrection
At the end of time, the body and soul are reunited—restored and made whole.
You are not discarded.
You are not recycled.
You are restored.
How to Break Free From These Beliefs
If you’ve believed in past lives or identified with them, here’s where to start:
1. Renounce the False Identity
Make a conscious decision to reject that demonic script for your life.
2. Replace It With Truth
Go to Scripture and learn what God actually says about your identity.
You are not a recycled soul.
You are His creation.
3. Come to the Church
You don’t have to figure this out alone.
There is wisdom, structure, and healing available within the life of the Church—through spiritual father guidance, prayer, and the Sacraments.
